Voting day
British Columbia holds general local elections every four years on the third Saturday in October. The next one is Saturday, October 17, 2026. Most municipalities also hold advance voting days in the weeks before.
Who can vote
Generally you must be 18 or older on voting day, a Canadian citizen, a resident of B.C. for at least six months, and a resident or registered property owner in the municipality. Your municipality confirms the rules that apply to you.
What to bring
Bring two pieces of identification that show your name, at least one with your signature, such as a driver's licence, BC Services Card or utility bill. Check your municipality's list before you go.
